Fr David Bergeron, CC Catholic Charismatic Center, Companions of the Cross, Houston

Thank you Lord for your work in me, yes Lord, I give you permission to renew my heart, I am ready for the heart transplant I need, change my heart so I can have a new heart of flesh, beating according to your holy rythm.

“And I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh.”

Without God, we have a heart of stone, stony heart.

Does a heart of stone beat ? Listen to the rocks. They do not make any sounds, have no rhythm, have no life, they are cold, stone-cold.

When the heart stops, life ceases.

If we have a stony heart, we are in cardiac arrest, we are dead, dead cold, stone cold.

Maybe we can invent this new expression: ‘stone cold dead’.

We need CPR: Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Resuscitation, Resurrection, New Life

Reanimation technique, cardiac massage: heart first, than breathing.

Heart first, than the breath of the Holy Spirit.

Who wants to receive CPR?

Is a heart of stone light? No, it is a heavy heart, a very heavy heart.

It is a heart that weighs us down, that prevents us to run, even prevents us to walk.

A heart of stone is a heart that does not allow us to go forward, a heart that paralyzes us.

A heart that brings us nowhere.

A heart that prevents us to walk toward Jesus. With a heart of stone, there is NO way we can follow Him, who is “the Way, the Truth and the Life.” Amen?

Need for an Open Heart surgery

Without a Heart transplant, we are dead, stone cold dead:

When we have our heart transplant, we need meds for life, for our body not to reject it.

Here the meds are the Eucharist, that incorporate our new heart.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Immaculate Heart of Mary

St John Marie Vianney: The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus.

The heart of Jesus gives us life.

“This is my Blood given up for you”

At some point, the heart of Jesus was working because of the heart of Mother Mary

Same rythm, unisson

I give thanks to the Lord for the birth of my niece Emilie a little over a week ago. Today's mass and prayers of the Rosary after our pro-life mass were very beautiful. Once again we prayed the Rosary in 5 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Latin and Tagalog.

·        Children, one of my greatest desires now is holding my new nieces in my arms for the first time

·        One of them would probably fit in my hands, Emilie, 1 week old, the other one, well she is 9 months...

·        Let’s think about Emilie now

·        So small yet so great,

·        So vulnerable, yet so precious, of an infinite value

·        So fragile, yet so beautifully made, and complete

·        But completely dependent on her parents

·        Now we can think about the unborn

·        So small yet so great

·        So vulnerable, yet so precious, of an infinite value

·        So fragile, yet so beautifully made, and complete, and infinitely loved by the Father

·        So tiny, yet so human, fully human

·        Yes fully human, but in such a need for protection, defenseless without our protecting hands, joined in prayer

·        And the mystery of the Eucharist parallels that as well

·        So small yet so great

·        So vulnerable, yet so precious, of an infinite value

·        So fragile, yet so beautifully made and infinitely loved by the Father

·        So tiny, yet so human, in fact fully human & fully divine

·        Yes fully divine, but in such a need for protection, defenseless without our protecting hands in prayer , or our hands receiving Him in communion like we receive a tiny baby, like a crib, but not a cold wooden crib, a warm living receiving hands for Him, our All, Jesus Christ

·        As our understanding of the mystery of the Eucharist grows, let us ask for our devotion to the cause of Life to grow as well

Today, at the end of this podcast, I share with you the notes of the homily, for your reference, and maybe to share about this important and controversial subject, if you judge relevant to a person you know.

Eunuchs for the Kingdom

Guardians of the harem of a King

Accountants for the King, ensure that there would be no danger for the wife to steal the credit card

Spirituality of Celibacy in consecrated life, especially for priests

Not a dogma, not in the creed, but it is a discipline. In theory, it is something that could change.

But now I want to share beautiful reasons for it not to change. Theological reasons.

Humanae Vitae says that true conjugal love has four characteristic marks:

it is “an act of the free will,” is “total,” “faithful” and “fruitful” (HV, No. 9)

Free:

vocation is answer to call of God, free to listen or not,

when you hear a ring on your phone, you can take the call or not,

Free means also not out of default, ex literal eunuchs cannot become priests,

Freely embraced

Total:

Completely: love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your spirit and all your strength

No distractions, undivided heart, “all in”, full time, full attention, full everything

Trying to be  “All to all”, like the Bible says “All things to all men (1 Cor9,22)”,

not all to one person, but all to “the One” with capital letter O, God Himself and His Church

Reminds me  of these other very important words from the Bible regarding marriage: “the 2 shall become one”.  Gen 2,24

As acting in the person of Christ, the word made flesh, the priest becomes one flesh w the Church

“This is my body which will be given up for you”, who is you? The Church.

Consummation of the act of Love between Christ and his Bride, the Church

Faithful:

undivided heart,

no exclusive relationship with a woman,

because when acting in the person of Christ, exclusive relationship with His bride, the Church

Fruitful:

Life coming from the sacraments,

Baptism, new life in Christ, adoption as sons and daughters of the Father

The reason why I consecrated my priesthood to the Holy Family. We need holy families for Holy priesthood. Let’s pray for all of us to answer our universal call, which is to holiness. Amen? Amen

This newer saint has a lot to teach us about accepting who Jesus Christ really is.

Sorry for the delay in publishing lately. We are still in some situations that command adaptation as we are beautifying the Catholic Charismatic Center by changing its original carpets. This reminds me of a saying by Fr Bob Bedard, our Founder that goes more or less like this:

To have renewal in the Church, you need to accept that there will be some chaos.

Amen, Amen I tell you, there is a lot of renewal happening in our Church right now. Praying that the new carpets help us in our ever neeeded spiritual renewal as well.

Thanks be to God that we have our computers working again. I write you this comment from a new carpet in my office... can you tell :-)

On Monday, I was blessed to celebrate mass at Incarnate Word Academy, an all girls high school in downtown Houston. I was very impressed by the group of young girls involved in the chaplaincy, obviously under the guidance of God through the work of a good friend of mine, Gina. Let's pray in thanksgiving for the good things that happen in our Catholic School through the people that work tirelessly for the spreading of the faith in Jesus Christ.

Hello y'all,

Very happy with a very blessed weekend, but very tired. I would like to repeat the words of Padre Emiliano Tardif, from my province in Quebec, so I will say it in French: "Jesus est Vivant, mais moi je suis mort." (Jesus is Alive, but I am dead of tiredness)

We had an evangelization retreat in Spanish, with more than 11 hours of confession divided by 3 priests, and I had to give 4 different homilies and 2 talks... Mucho trabajo!!! But God provided me strenght and inspiration, as usual. God is good, all the time.
